Care for your jewel

The creations of CXC are made with alloys and finishes that require particular care. We advise you to keep your jewel in the best conditions.

Here we offer a series of tips for the proper care of your jewelry:

Silver-plated jewelry

Exposure to light, air, humidity, air conditioning, and the pH of some skin types can cause silver to tarnish. In the case of pH, it can wear down or corrode the finish of the jewel in a few days.

We recommend avoiding going to the beach or pools while wearing jewelry and always taking it off to sleep. Creams and perfumes can also damage them, so we advise avoiding contact between these substances and the jewelry.

When cleaning them, we suggest using a silver polishing cloth or a non-abrasive silver cleaner. Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water and neutral soap and dry the jewel with a very soft cloth. Be careful if the jewel also has leather, crystals, or other materials as these require a different type of care. If the jewel has leather, be very careful not to wet or stain it when cleaning the metal part.

Gold-plated jewelry:

Just like silver-plated jewelry, exposure to light, air, humidity, air conditioning, lights, and pH can damage it. If the jewel has lost its original color, you only need to wash it with warm water and neutral soap and dry it with a soft cloth. Be careful if the jewel also has leather, crystals, or other materials as these require a different type of care. If the jewel has leather, be very careful not to wet or stain it when cleaning the metal part.

Jewelry with Leather

Our leather is made using a vegetable tanning process. Exposure to light, air, and lights naturally darkens the leather. Water and liquids can damage the jewel, staining it as if it were a piece of fabric.

We do not recommend using specialized cleaners for leather; however, if you choose this option, test it first on the back of the piece.

At CXC, we recommend using the jewel until the leather color ages naturally and uniformly. For those who prefer the leather to darken immediately, you can carefully apply any moisturizing cream to the surface of the piece. This process will darken it immediately as if it had already gone through a natural aging procedure, giving it a uniform color. From this moment on, the leather should be regularly moisturized to keep it soft and flexible. This recommendation applies to all dark leathers.

Jewelry with Crystals:

We recommend using a soft, slightly damp cloth in water to clean the parts of the jewelry that contain crystals and glass.

Jewelry with Cords and Fabrics:

When it comes to cotton fabric, avoid exposing it to water, as it may shrink, not regain its original dimensions, and affect the aesthetics.

Storage

Always store in a wooden drawer, jewelry box, or closed box. Avoiding direct light, humidity, and air will help keep your jewelry in good condition. To prevent humidity in drawers, we recommend placing silica gel packets inside.

(CXC TRICK: you can reuse the silica gel packets found inside some medicine tubes and put them inside your jewelry box).

We recommend not exposing jewelry to baking soda or chemical products, not even those used for cleaning jewelry, as they can alter the color of the jewelry and damage other organic parts like leather and wood.

Due to the characteristics of the metallic components, never force the parts of the jewelry or attempt to bend them, as this can cause breaks and irreversible deformations that are not covered by our warranty.
